I am like a tiger in the tree
My sister asked me what I thought about an article about the reaction from the Asian-American community about the VT shooting. These were my thoughts with remarks from some guy I don't know. His remarks seem coherent, -my ramblings are already duely noted to be- (well, just that-ramblings)- but you can judge for yourself the remarks by this guy.
For the record, I believe what the VT shooter did to be absolutely inexcuseable and horrific in the senseless slaughter of 30+, but let's not forget the hundreds of people that are slaughtered everyday in Iraq.
The crime has nothing to do with ethnicity, so Chuin-Wei Yap, shut up. I am like a tiger in the tree ready to leap... woe is me... Give me a break.. go to a fancy barber. I think that only my sister will understand that last sentence, so the 1 person that randomly lands on this blog and actually reads this should ignore that.
Even though I wouldn't buy a gun and I hope that the public in general won't buy guns, they should not be banned from free citizens. I support gun legislation that make sense. I think the NRA are a bunch of hillbillies, but even hillbillies have the right to voice their opinions. And my damn Transformers toys need better guns, dammit.
Lastly, if making light of the recent tragedy offends you, I apologize.
Founding fathers were not stupid. Second amendment is there for a reason, it's not just a trivial thing for a time period where guns used for hunting and duels.
-Correct, neither hunting nor duels are mentioned in the 2nd Amendment. Although I wish we still allowed duels. It would be a nice change to see pols shooting each other on the capitol steps. Even if they didn't, lots of citizens could go up there and challenge them because of their idiotic votes. Beats the "recall ballot" by a longshot. For example, Burr killing Hamilton in a duel was a very good thing for the country.
A country needs a standing army to protect from invasion, thus free citizens need the right to obtain arms in case of a coup or army gone crazy. I'm not talking about rockets and bombs. Just small arms are enough for an insurgency.
-There is no provision in the Constitution for a "standing army", nor a "select militia" like the National Guard. The 2nd Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear arms precisely so that every man is armed, trained (that is Congress' responsibility, to establish training for all), and ready to serve in case of invasion of foreign troops, insurrections, or (as is easily found in both the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers) to destroy a tyrannical government. See the Militia Acts. The "militia" (all men at large) are to be armed with exactly what the current infantry soldier is/should-be armed with. That means assault rifles, machineguns, breaching shotguns, might vision, armor, grenades, mortars, etc. Just like the First Amendment doesn't protect only the use of parchment and quills (or fixed lead type) for "free speech" and "the press", the 2nd Amendment refers to current or past militarily-useful arms. In fact, there is a good case to be made that all arms that are NOT militarily useful could be banned from possession, but machineguns, assault rifles, grenades, bazookas, anti-tank rockets like RPGs, etc are 100% protected.
What does the fact that some anguished kid gone mad and start shooting people have to do with race? People of any ethnicity all have the same feelings. This kid is the same as the Columbine kids. People can only take so much taunting before they snap. It was a situation about a lonely kid not an asian kid.
-Yup. But this guy didn't "snap"; nobody does. This lunatic was unstable for a LONG time before. Hard to call somebody in the USA for 15 years "Korean", "Greek", etc. He was an American, just not an "American Citizen".
People should be ashamed that it got to the point where he was so isolated that he felt the need to kill people; not ashamed that an asian shot people up. They talk about VT pride; where was VT pride before the shootings. Stupid reporter don't know shit about anything.
-He's right about the reporter thing. How many of them actually understand what it takes (mechanically or mentally) for him to shoot those people? How many have had training in how to respond, to know what it would take to stop him? How many articles do you see where they are taking about "high capacity clips"? "Stripper clips" are a thin piece of metal that hold "bullets" (another misnomer, actually cartridges) by the base for old rifles (and at least 1 40 year old pistol). "Magazine" is the proper term for a box with cartridges (not "bullets") in it. The ignorance is always on display for millions of gun-owners to see in print.
Bottom line- treat the disease, not the symtoms. Teach people to behave and be respectful of others. It has nothing to do with guns. A madman can get guns from the blackmarket anyways. Gun legislations can't do anything about that.
-Building guns in your garage is easy too, especially sub-machineguns. Far cheaper and more discrete than buying a gun legally. Load your own ammunition, paying cash for components, and there are no receipts to tip anybody off.
When the aliens come, we're going to need those guns.
-Mexicans or martians? No matter, they should work on either. Maybe I should take your brother to the range... lol!
The author of this blog does not condone or support the following acts: 1.)challenging politicians to duels with firearms or objects that can be used for bludgeoning; 2.) fabrication or storage of illegal weapons in garages, basements or other establishments of residency; 3.) shooting any non naturalized persons to the United States without just cause.
