Mickey Mouse

Apparently mice don't like the taste of ginger snap cookies. I found that out as the cookie bag that I left on my desk last night was shredded to pieces with the cookies mostly intact. There is a mouse at the office that everyone calls Mickey but I'm afraid that his days are numbered. After months of snacking on chocolate, gronola bars, and cookies, his demise may well be peanut butter. We'll see in the morning whether Mickey will outwit two Ph.D. and three Master engineering students.

Work hard for a B

Work hard for a B: that has been my motto for graduate school and let me explain. It doesn't mean being lazy. It means prioritizing your time. I argue that the most important topics at this level are learned by being involved in research (and publishing if it's worth anyone's time reading). Classes are only a supplement. So if the difference of getting an A from a B is making your homework look pretty (which just happens to be an important grading criteria to some), just turn the damn thing in.

Other phrases that I go by:

"The stiffest members take the most load."
"Prioritize what can and can't be done."
"Leave when you have nothing more to learn or nothing to contribute."
"That's fancy math, we don't look at that."

The latest

Been sidetracked from updating this blog. Got bored with anime marathons on YouTube and most recently been trying to get quickenings for Penelo if that means anything to you. No political rants for now. Have no idea what's going on in the news. Still in Iraq? I've been rather monastic in my office rescribing the scripture that is corrosion engineering... only briefly sinning by gluttony during Thanksgiving. It's back to the cloisture tomorrow morning. Ugh.. one more paper due... and finals. Need to do some more chanting for better grades.

One more rant: old man Lou Holtz can shut the hell up. Go Bulls!

To all the C students

Prepared phrase-“Do you know where you end up if you don’t study, if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.”

Acutal speech-“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

John Kerry actively served in the Vietnam War. Bush did not. Kerry has much more credibility on talking about anything about the military than Bush. Bush has always fumbled in his speeches embarrassing himself countless times. But he is a dummy so Americans like him as a dummy. (That's the only way that I can understand how he was twice elected.) So why is Kerry being portrayed as the villain and Bush is allowed to go on saying that Kerry should apologize? Shit, it not like what Kery said is untrue, unless your father can buy your way into Yale. To all the C students? Fuck that.

And having Cheney and Rumsfeld enflaming the situation. The brilliant minds, in getting thousands of soldiers and civilians shot and blown up.
